Marbling Paint for Ebru

Ebru is the Turkish art of paper marbling, and the paint is where its character comes from. These are water-based colours, and the pigment quality matters more here than in almost any other medium: a paint with weak pigmentation spreads unevenly on the size and fades on the sheet.

Traditional Ebru uses earth colours, natural pigments ground from rock and soil, and the same principle still governs good marbling paint today. Strong, stable pigment is what gives a finished pattern its brightness and keeps it looking crisp years later.

Karin Sanat has worked in Ebru materials for decades and holds its marbling paints to a consistent standard. The Karin and Hisar ranges are available across a wide colour selection, alongside Artdeco, Koza and Pebeo marbling colours.
