Winsor & Newton

Winsor & Newton is one of the world’s most established art supply brands, founded in London in 1832 through the partnership of chemist William Winsor and artist Henry Newton. In their small shop at 38 Rathbone Place, the duo began their operations in the artists' quarter of the time, among the same circles as figures like John Constable; they crowned the brand's reputation in 1841 by receiving a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria.

One of the brand's greatest contributions to art history is the collapsible metal tube and screw cap system developed in the 1840s; this invention allowed painters to carry paint outside the studio to paint en plein air, laying the groundwork for the birth of the Impressionist movement. Winsor & Newton also consolidated its pioneering identity in pigments and formulations by developing the first glycerin-based moist watercolours in 1835.

In the collection, the student-grade Winton oil colour range is offered in a wide spectrum of colours, while the Cotman series provides an affordable watercolour alternative in tubes, pans, and compact sets. While Cotman's eponymous synthetic watercolour brushes offer a durable option for daily use, the brand's flagship Series 7 Kolinsky sable brushes stand out as some of the finest and most precise brushes preferred by professional artists. Additionally, the Galeria acrylic colour range is also included in the selection. These products cater to both students and professional artists working with oil, watercolour, and acrylic techniques.

As one of Winsor & Newton's authorized retailers in Turkey, Karin Sanat stocks the brand's full range of oil colours, watercolours, acrylics, and brushes. All products are supplied through the official distributor channel with an authenticity guarantee and are offered at our Fatih and Nişantaşı stores as well as through karinsanat.com.
