Detailed Information
The Baroque-Rococo style that emerged in Europe following the classical period, influenced by the winds of Westernization movements, affected all branches of Ottoman-Turkish decorative arts and created an Ottoman-Turkish Rococo with its own unique rules and style. This period, which lasted for nearly two hundred years and produced works with magnificent decorations, is unfortunately still perceived as a mere imitation of the West and does not receive the attention it deserves. In this book, through the examination of exemplary works from the period, the design, color, and painting techniques have been studied, and an attempt has been made to describe the Ottoman-Turkish Baroque and Rococo with all its characteristics. The book's chapter titles are: The Birth and Development of Baroque and Rococo Art Movements in Europe; The Effects of Baroque and Rococo Art on Turkish Decorative Arts; Decorative Details (Motifs) Used in the Rococo Style in Turkish Decorative Arts; Illuminated Sections and Composition Drawing Rules of Manuscripts in the Rococo Style; Painting Rules and Techniques of Illuminations in the Rococo Style; Painting and Drawing Characteristics of Halkâri and Rococo-style Halkâri; Known Artists of Westernization-era Turkish Manuscripts; The Effects of Baroque and Rococo Styles on Other Turkish Decorative Arts (From the Promotional Bulletin)
