Calligraphy for Beginners Thuluth Writing Method by Ö.F.Dere

It is certain that the thuluth script, which has reached the pinnacle of aesthetics, firmness, and magnificence among Islamic scripts, attained its most beautiful harmony in line layout through the hand of the 19th-century monumental calligrapher Mehmed Şevki Efendi. In thuluth script, the path is the path of Şevki Efendi. For this reason, today, education in the thuluth script is carried out through the practice albums (meşk murakkaaları) written by the late master. This book has been prepared to assist calligraphy students during their training in the thuluth script, both in terms of history, materials, and practical knowledge, and in terms of understanding the details of the script. The thuluth script must be practiced consistently and with patience for many years, and only after mastery of the thuluth script is achieved should one begin composition studies with jali (large) thuluth.
