Hattat Şeyh Abdülaziz Rifai

In this work, we have endeavored to comprehensively introduce the artistic journey of Sheikh Aziz Efendi, a prominent figure among 20th-century calligraphers, which began in his childhood, based on documents and information. A significant portion of Aziz Efendi's works is preserved in the Kubbealtı Foundation's Ekrem Hakkı Collection. While preparing this study for publication, we pursued and sought to reach his works located in various museums, libraries, and mansions in Cairo and Turkey, in addition to the Ayverdi Collection, with great patience and effort. Subsequently, we included meticulously selected examples of his works in this study. The chosen Mushaf-i Sherifs, juzes, murakkas, prayer collections, and tablets reveal Aziz Efendi's mastery of the art of calligraphy, his refined taste, and the ineffable richness of his inner world.
