Detailed Information
Karin Ebru Carrageenan (Irish Moss), which is the best among the thickeners used as a raw material in marbling and preferred by masters, is a brown seaweed harvested from the depths of the ocean. It is considered the thickener with the most superior properties for the art of marbling. Carrageenan lasts for about thirty to thirty-five days under normal heat and humidity conditions. Its preparation is relatively easier than that of "tragacanth" (kitre). 6 grams of Japanese carrageenan is sufficient for 1 liter of water.
