Marbling Art Ö.Faruk Dere

Ever since humanity discovered that water, the source of our life, could be used as a foundation for skill, marblers all over the world have been floating their dreams upon it. In the art of marbling, which attracts everyone from seven to seventy with its colorful nature, the ability to reach quick results, and its unrepeatable quality, the success of the performance depends on proper preparation and experience based on multifaceted parameters. As in every branch of art, the subtleties of marbling can only be learned properly by passing through the rigorous training of a master. Our only hope is that our book, "Marbling Art for Beginners," will serve as a guide for our dear students during training and provide direction for marbling enthusiasts who cannot reach a master. In the first pages of the book, a brief history of the art of marbling and basic information about materials have been compiled, and the production stages have been explained in detail with entirely up-to-date photographs. Subsequently, practice topics have been sequenced, and the learning process has been planned based on the Battal marbling—the original form of the art—progressing from Battal marbling to Battal-based marbling, and finally to pictorial marbling over Battal. We believe that this book, enriched with marbling works made entirely by the author with few exceptions, will be a book that will be referred to every time one sits at the marbling tray and will remain in constant use.
