The practice sheets (meşk) prepared by the four great masters of Islamic calligraphy have been published in collaboration with IRCICA and the Sakıp Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM):
Kazasker Mustafa Izzet Efendi’s (1801-1876) Thuluth-Naskh Calligraphy Practice Sheets (SSM, 120-0164); Hasan Rıza Efendi’s (1849-1920) Thuluth-Naskh, Muhaqqaq, and Riqa' Practice Sheets (SSM, no. 120-0225); Mehmed Hulûsi Yazgan’s (1869-1940) Ta‘liq Practice Sheets (SSM, no. 120-0322); and Mehmed Esad Yesârî’s (1730-1798) Nasta‘liq Practice Sheets (SSM, no. 120-0061). In Islamic calligraphy education, the writing samples prepared by teachers for their students carry great value both as a legacy of art history and as resources that can be used today. Collected in four separate volumes with introductory texts in Turkish, English, and Arabic, these practice albums (sets) continue the documentation of this important artistic heritage, following IRCICA’s previously published works: Mehmed Şevki Efendi’s (1829-1887) Thuluth-Naskh Practice Sheets (3rd ed. 2022) and Mustafa Halim Özyazıcı’s (1898-1964) Diwani, Jeli Diwani, and Riqa' Practice Sheets (2003).
