Over the centuries, the art of calligraphy has evolved from the ornamentation of religious texts into an indispensable decorative element of monumental architectural works, imbuing writing with both visual harmony and spiritual depth. On this stage where it meets architecture, the jali thuluth and jali taliq scripts have emerged as a result of the pursuit of both legibility and aesthetic perfection. This book focuses on the inscriptions of the New Mosque Sabil, one of these rare examples of calligraphy in architecture and considered among the pinnacle works of jali thuluth. This twelve-line masterpiece by Sami Efendi is being examined anatomically in such a comprehensive manner for the first time, not only in the context of the anatomy of the letters but also through its decorative elements and compositional arrangement. Aiming to fill an important gap in traditional calligraphy education, this work intends to be a valuable resource for calligraphers and researchers alike, as well as for all art lovers who wish to explore the subtleties of this ancient art.
